Internet Explorer, decidedly not the best web browser, has become the most commonly used browser since Microsoft released version 1.0. More recently, criticism of IE’s security vulnerabilities and lackluster performance has grown. In fact, IE 11 ceased security updates in 2016. In 2019, even the most secure version, IE 11, had vulnerabilities ranging from remote installation of monitoring programs and downloading files. Microsoft officially announced in August 2020 that IE 11 would be the final version and support for the aging browser would gradually come to an end. The effects of this tectonic shift are difficult to estimate.
The paperless report management software, PineReport Master, developed by Syscom Computer, had used IE as the user-side interface. For more than ten years, PineReport Master grew beyond Tandem host report transmission to supporting Tandem, Unix, Linux, AS400, Windows platforms, and more. Beside transmission, viewing, and report printing, PineReport Master added functions for approval processing, agent settings, and watermarking.
In response to IE security issues, our PineReport Master R&D team has made moves to support other web browsers while developing even more new features. Customers can enjoy these exciting new features, and support for Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome 6.0 or better, now with a software update. More than new features, Syscom is calling on our customers to move to this safer environment as soon as possible. As IE rides into the sunset, Syscom and PineReport Master continue to uphold the spirit of advancing with the times and providing customers with supremely convenient and safe products.
